It’s official: Apple’s App Store has hit 10 billion app downloads. Read on to see why this important for your business.

"Apple recently started a countdown for the 10 billionth app and launched a contest to give a $10,000 iTunes gift card to the person who downloaded it."

At the end of September 2009, the App Store hit 2 billion apps downloaded and by January 2010, there were 3 billion downloads from the App Store.

"Facebook has launched a new mobile application that will be able to run on simple/ non-smartphone devices.

The app has been built in conjunction with a company called Snaptu (www.snaptu.com). Snaptu builds basic mobile applications, and this particular Facebook app will be able to work on more than 2500 phone models, including Nokia, Sony Ericsson, LG and many other manufacturers."

U.S. marketers will spend $3.08 billion to advertise on social networking sites this year, much of which will go to Facebook, according to eMarketer. Facebook generated $1.86 billion in advertising in 2010, the firm estimates.
